Competitor intelligence for devtools teams
Know what your competitors shipped this week, with a source for every line.
Rivalsmith tracks your rivals' changelogs, pricing pages, funding, hiring and posts, then sends you a short weekly brief and drafts the content that answers it. Built for seed to Series A devtools and B2B SaaS teams without a PMM.
No call required. We send the brief, you decide if it is useful.
How it works
Three steps, then it runs every week.
-
01
Name your rivals
Tell us your product and the 3 to 6 competitors you lose deals to. We suggest others we find in your category.
-
02
We watch the public record
Changelogs, docs, pricing pages, job boards, funding news, GitHub releases, blogs and social posts. Each claim is linked to the page it came from and dated.

03
You get a brief and drafts
Every week: what changed, why it matters to you, and content you can edit and publish. Anything we could not verify is labeled as such.
What you get weekly
A brief you can read in five minutes, and work you can ship.
Competitor brief
Launches, pricing and packaging changes, funding, hiring signals and messaging shifts, grouped by competitor with a source for every line.
"So what" for your team
Threats, openings and concrete next actions, such as a comparison page to publish or an objection to prep sales for.
Social post drafts
Posts in your voice for X and LinkedIn that respond to what changed, written for engineers rather than for an algorithm.
Pricing tracker
A running table of rivals' published list prices and plan limits, with the date each was last checked.
Newsletter draft Growth+
A monthly customer newsletter draft built from your own releases and the market context around them.
Researched leads Growth+

Sample
An unsolicited teardown of Depot's market.
Independent sample. We wrote this from public sources to show our work. It was not commissioned, reviewed or endorsed by Depot, and Rivalsmith is not affiliated with Depot or any company named in it.
Executive summary (excerpt)
- Depot's two closest runner competitors raised $87M in the window, and both are spending it on compute. Blacksmith announced a $45M Series B at a $550M valuation on Aug 12. Namespace announced a $42M Series B led by Scale Venture Partners on Oct 5. Depot's last round was a $10M Series A in March 2026. [S2] [S8] [S9] [S18]
- Running Actions YAML off GitHub is turning into a category, and Depot is named in it. CircleCI opened a preview of running GitHub Actions workflows on CircleCI on Sep 22, and its launch post compares itself directly to Depot CI. Buildkite's compatibility layer added Linux arm64 in early October. [S38] [S39]
- Cost at agent scale is the new churn trigger, and one public case names Depot. Pydantic moved Logfire's CI off a mix of GitHub Actions, Depot and Ubicloud to RunsOn. Its CI bill went from $18,200 in August to $5,700 in September while runner minutes grew 31%. [S26] [S27]
One recommended action (excerpt)
Publish "GitHub Actions-compatible CI, compared" with a public compatibility matrix. Lead with the facts: Depot CI has been GA since March, CircleCI's preview is Linux-only, and Buildkite's support is partial. [S4] [S38] [S39]
The full sample includes a competitor-by-competitor section, a pricing comparison table, threats and opportunities, a "could not verify" list, and every source URL.

FAQ
Questions engineers ask us
Is this done by AI?
Partly, and we would rather say so up front. AI agents do the monitoring, research and first drafts: they read changelogs, pricing pages, job boards and posts, and draft the brief and content. A human reviews every brief before it goes out, checks claims against their sources, and removes anything we cannot back up. Unverified items are labeled as unverified rather than dropped in as fact.
Where does the information come from?
Public sources only: company websites, docs, changelogs, pricing pages, GitHub, job boards, press releases, funding announcements and public social posts. We do not use leaked material, scraped private data or anything behind a login we are not entitled to.
How is this different from a Google Alert or a competitive-intel platform?
Alerts give you raw links. Large CI platforms are built for enterprise PMM teams and priced that way. We give you a short, sourced read on what changed and what to do about it, plus drafts you can publish, at a price that works before you hire a marketer.
Will you post on our behalf?
No. Everything we produce is a draft for your review. You edit and publish it yourself.
Do you work with our direct competitors?
We will not take on two companies competing head to head in the same category at the same time without telling both of them first.
What does the free brief include, and what happens after?
A sourced summary of what your named competitors did over the last month or two, with a few recommended actions. After that you can start a $500 pilot month or stop there. There is no automatic signup.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Plans are month to month.
